A Back List for the Curious:

Chapbooks, Books, and Anthologies

Since 1979, Mark Sanders has published numerous chapooks and collections of poetry and prose, and edited anthologies and poetry series devoted to regional poetry and fiction.  The list is too long to include, here; however, here is a sampling of representative work from the past thirty-five years.  All of these books are now out-of-print, though copies may sometimes be found online.

The Plains Sense of Things 3:  A Tribute to Larry Holland (Sandhills Press, 1999).  Following the death of Larry               Holland in March 1999, this collection of poems and memoirs was compiled to the memory of one of                       Nebraska's poetry-pioneers; contributors included his contemporaries and friends:  J. V. Brummels,

Twyla Hansen, Neil Harrison, Joan Hoffman, William Kloefkorn, David Lee, Mark Sanders, Barbara Schmitz,

Red Shuttleworth, Don Welch, and Paul Zarzyski.

Brummels, Dixon, Stillwell, West, and many others.

The Plains Poetry Series (Sandhills Press, 1985-1992).  Sanders and J.V. Brummels co-edited six volumes of

poetry by single authors from 1985-1988; thereafter, Sanders brought out three additional titles for the

Series.  The Series included work by Kathleene West, Barton Sutter, Roy Scheele, M. K. Stillwell, Robert

Lietz, Barbara Schmitz, and Don Welch.

The Main-Travelled Roads Chapbook Series (Sandhills Press, 1993-2008).  Sanders brought out more than 24

chapbooks of poetry, fiction, and non-fiction in a 15 year period.  Among the writers included in this series

are Ron Wallace, David Baker, Larry Holland, Barbara Schmitz, Greg Kosmicki, Kelly Cherry, Kathleene West,

William Kloefkorn, Ted Kooser, Don Welch, Roy Scheele, Steven Schneider, David Allan Evans, Kelly Madigan,

CarolAnn Russell, and numerous others.  Part of the mission of MTR was to bring to print work that,

because it was experimental, might not have found publication elsewhere.
